Charity
Drs. Jose and Stella Evangelista have dedicated their lives to charity
and philanthropy for the Philippines. As civic leaders,
they are actively involved in several Filipino organizations locally,
nationally and abroad. In addition, they conduct annual
medical missions to under-served areas in the Philippines. The Evangelista
Family Charitable Foundation was also established
to provide financial, medical and educational relief to the Philippines.
All
donations are tax deductible.
Jose Limjoco Evangelista MD, FACC, FRCP (C)
Dr. Jose Evangelista graduated Valedictorian from elementary and secondary schools in Candaba, Pampanga and Summa Cum Laude from UST BS Pre-Med and Zoology. He finished Medicine from University of Santo Tomas in 1968 graduating as President of his Class. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and board certified in Cardiovascular diseases, Nuclear Cardiology and Sleep Medicine.
He has been Past President of various associations including the Phil Medical Association in Michigan, Association of Philippine Physicians in America, UST Medical Alumni Association in America and the Michigan Ciculo Pampangueno. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to be a member of the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation. And he was appointed Philippine Honorary Consul General in Detroit, Michigan in April 2008.
He is a recipient of various awards among them are:
- The Presidential Award for Outstanding Filipinos Overseas - Banaag Award, from President Fidel V. Ramos in 1993 in recognition of his active participation in pursuing the Philippine government's development and relief programs.
- Along with his wife, Dr. Stella Salgado Evangelista, Dr. Joe was the first Filipino and first couple to be inducted to the Michigan International Institute Heritage Hal of Fame in its 84 year history, fro promoting ethnicity and diversity.
- He was the recipient of the Archbishop Medallion Award for his philanthropic contributions in Pampanga.
- Most recently, Dr. Joe was awarded the highest honor bestowed by the University of Santo Tomas upon its alumni, The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni Award in Health and Medicine or the TOTAL Award, in recognition of his significant and exemplary contributions in the field of medicine and health, and for consolidating all the UST Medical alumni into the biggest and most highly organized group of professionals in America.

Stella Salgado Evangelista, MD, FAAP
- Administrator & Medical Director of Maple Manor Rehab Center, Maple Manor Assisted Living and Avanti Home Health Care based in Michigan
- Board Certified in Pediatrics and practiced for 25 years in Livonia, Michigan
- Member of Michigan State Board of Medicine for 8 years. First Filipino to serve.
- Executive Director of USTMAAA (UST Medical Alumni Association in America) and UST Foundation for the past 23 years, an organization of 6,000 Thomasian medical alumni residing in the United States. The Foundation has raised $3 Million endowment fund for the benefit of UST School of Medicine, UST Charity Hospital, and the indigent patient it serves.
- Recipient of the Lingkapil Award in 2006, presented by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for her effective leadership and unselfish dedication to community service through her various charitable missions and activities in the Philippines
- Inducted to the International Heritage Hall of Fame in Detroit, Michigan, together with husband, Jose, the first Filipino and first couple to be inducted in its 84 year history
- First Female President of the Association of Philippine Physicians in America; raised $50,000 during her term for the Iodine Deficiency program of Kiwanis International in the Philippines
- Dr. Stella Evangelista is a wife to Jose, and mother of 6 children – 4 physicians, one attorney and one real estate developer and manager
